Girls Generation Wins Album of the Year

This year at the 2012 MTV VMAJ‘s, Girls Generation managed to take home the prestigious Album of the Year award. They faced stiff competition in the form of international artists Coldplay and Lady Gaga, Domestic Jazz star Juju and fellow hallyu pop stars in KARA. Their first Japanese album, which shares the same name as the group, has been widely successful, even achieving Million certification by the Japanese RIAJ for having over 1,000,000 albums shipped.
Girls Generation, this album was an ambitious project that saw them adapt  established hits into Japanese, coinciding with a widely successful Japanese Arena Tour. Diligent work from translators and lyricists help adapt the Korean songs for a new market, while providing a new sound to the group in the form of brand new tracks, with the end result being incredibly successful. Not to be outdone were the members, who took on the incredibly difficult task of learning to sing in a new language, re-shooting a few music videos and some new ones, all the while promoting in Japan, Korea and the United States. It’s no wonder that the Girls Generation Japanese album has received a lot of attention from fans around the world.
